
Women's Golf Tied For Tenth After First Round Of Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Maryland's women's golf team is currently tied for tenth place among 31 schools after the first round of play at the Unlimited Potential/Baytree Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The five-member team shot a combined 322, 17 shots behind the leader, East Carolina. Currently, the team is three places ahead of their 13th place finish last year.
Sophomore Marie Harper (West Point, Va.) finished the day tied for sixth place with a 76 while fellow sophomore Katie Redeker (Pepper Pike, Oh.) is tied for tenth place with a 77, improving seven strokes from last year's first-round 84 in the same tournament.
Sophomore Kara Gropler (Franklin Lakes, NJ) will hope to improve upon a first-round 85, which tied her with junior teammate Erin Clasper (Potomac, Md.) for 102nd place. Last fall Gropler led the team in the first round with a 74.
Second round action begins Saturday with a fixed tee format on the Bay Tree Golf Plantation (Par 72, Yardage 5,884).
