
Women's Golf Ninth After Two Rounds At Lady Pirate

GREENVILLE, N.C. - After carding a collective 327 in the first round of the Lady Pirate Fall Intercollegiate, the Maryland women's golf team improved by 13 strokes, firing a second-round 314 to finish day one in ninth place.
All five Maryland golfers bettered their first round scores by at least one stroke. Senior captain Erin Clasper (North Patomac, Md.) shot a four-over-par 75 in the second round for a three-stroke improvement. She leads the Terps in a tie for 11th place.
Sophomore Kristen Shew (Hockessin, Del.) is tied for 34th after carding a two-round total of 161. Junior Marie Harper (West Point, Va.) achieved the most drastic improvement on the team, firing a second-round 79 after shooting 84 in the first. She is tied for 41st, trailing Shew by just two strokes.
Junior Stacey Wolejko (Hatfield, Mass.) bettered her first round score by four strokes, carding a second-round 80. She is currently tied for 46th place, just one stroke behind Harper. Senior Carter Crowther (Kilmarnock, Va.) is tied for 55th and follows Wolejko by three strokes after firing a two-round total of 167.
Host East Carolina leads the 16-team field with a collective 603, 12 strokes ahead of second-place Western Carolina. Play concludes tomorrow with the third and final round.
