Increased Security Measures For Maryland Athletic Events

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- University of Maryland will have increased security for its home athletic events, including this Thursday's ACC football game at Byrd Stadium vs. Georgia Tech, according to Major Paul Dillon of the Department of Public Safety.

Measures include:

Increased police presence inside and outside the stadium;

Increased security patrols by campus police in campus parking lots.

University police also will implement other safety measures that for security reasons it will not make public.

Since Oct. 3, University police are in regular communication with all police jurisdictions in the region and are on heightened alert on campus. University police have increased the number of officers on patrol on all shifts, placed uniformed officers at all entrances to the campus, and are visibly increasing the police presence during class change periods.
