Box Score

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - At Ritchie Coliseum, Maryland sophomore Sarah Treadwell had 13 kills and just two errors on Saturday evening to help pace the Terrapin volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over NC State. The Terps won the match by scores of 30-25, 30-15, 30-22.

Treadwell also added nine digs for the Terps (14-9, 3-5 ACC) who kept the Wolfpack winless in seven ACC matches. Senior outside hitter Carey Brennan led Maryland with 15 kills. Lynnsy Jones added 12 kills and had 10 digs. Senior setter Lindsay Davey posted 34 assists during the lopsided match, and led the Terps with 11 digs. Freshman middle blocker Rachel Wagener, meanwhile, paced Maryland with four blocks.

Maryland blitzed NC State (3-22, 0-7 ACC) from the outset, leading 13-5 and 27-13 in the opening game before winning 30-25. NC State drew to within 28-25 by scoring 12 of 14 points in one instance, but a serving ace by Davey dashed any further hopes of a Wolfpack comeback. Treadwell contributed eight of her 13 kills during the opening game.

It was more of the same in game two for the Terrapins, who benefited from eight aces during the match overall. The Terrapins grabbed an 11-6 advantage on back-to-back aces by senior Amanda Ayres, and another by Davey made it 14-7. After leading 20-9 and 21-12, Treadwell served five straight times to help the Terps coast to a 30-15 win.

NC State took its only lead of the match on the opening serve of game three, but after trading the first four points, Maryland assumed command. Jones served the Terps to a 7-4 lead. Maryland extended its lead to 15-11 on an ace by freshman Stephanie Doiron. A Jones kill followed by Doiron's third ace of the match posted Maryland to a 17-11 advantage. Consecutive blocks by Wagener put Maryland ahead 22-16 and the Terps rolled the rest of the way with the 'Pack getting no closer than seven points.

Maryland resumes play in the ACC next week while traveling to Clemson (Oct. 25) and Georgia Tech (Oct. 26).
