COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland All-American Carissa Messimer (Mountaintop, Pa.) is undoubtedly one of NCAA field hockey's prime-time players. Ever since her game-winning goal against Michigan in the 1999 national championship game against Michigan, Messimer has been a leader for the Terps during practices and especially in big games.
Dan Greenburg, field hockey beat writer for Maryland's independent student newspaper, The Diamondback, wrote a feature describing Messimer's career and he uncanny ability to step up when it is all on the line. Click here to read the story on the Terp senior.
Messimer currently ranks second on the squad with eight goals and 18 points. She and the No. 1 Terrapins take on No. 18 Virginia in an ACC match-up in Charlottesville on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m.
