STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The Maryland women's golf team shot a 315 to finish the Nittany Lion Invitational in sixth place. Carding a combined 948 for the two-day, three-round tournament, the Terps were just seven strokes behind Princeton for their first top-five finish of the season.

Senior captain Erin Clasper (North Patomac, Md.) led the Terps with 236 finishing in a tie for 24th place. After firing a 78 in the first round, she shot an 80 in the second before returning to 78 again in the third and final round.

Junior Marie Harper (West Point, Va.) shot a 10-over-par 82 in the final round after carding two 79's in the first two rounds for a combined score of 240, landing tied for 34th place.

The four remaining Terps all finished within two strokes of each other. Junior Katie Redeker (Pepper Pike, Ohio) shot a combined 241 to finish tied for 40th place. Senior Carter Crowther (Kilmarnock, Va.) and sophomore Kristen Shew (Hockessin, Del.) each totaled 242, placing them in a tie for 43rd, while freshman Alex Casi (East Palestine, Ohio) was just one stroke behind them at 243 for sole possession of 47th place. Shew carded a team-low two-over-par 74 in the second round.

Host Penn State won the 15-team tournament with a collective 909, nine strokes ahead of second-place James Madison and Rollins College. Seventh-place Ohio trailed the Terps by four strokes.

The Terps return to the course Oct. 14-15 for the East Carolina Fall Invitational in Greenville, N.C.
