  • With the win, Maryland wins at North Carolina for the first time since 1988. The Terps had lost seven in a row at Kenan Stadium.

  • It is also the first time Maryland has won back-to-back games in the series since winning two in a row in 1988 and 1989.

  • The 59 points for Maryland is the most the Terps have ever scored against the Tar Heels besting the 45, they scored in a 45-7 win over UNC in 1999. Today's margin of victory is also the most the Terps have beaten the Tar Heels by, as they had twice beaten UNC by 38 points, most recently in that 1999 game at Byrd Stadium.

  • Steve Suter's 77-yard punt return for a touchdown in the second quarter was his fourth of the season, tying the NCAA record. He ties the single-season mark held by:
    • Santana Moss (Miami, Fla.), 2000
    • David Allen (Kansas State), 1998
    • Quinton Spotwood (Syracuse), 1997
    • Pinker Keck (Cincinnati), 1997
    • James Henry (Southern Mississippi), 1987
    • Cliff Branch (Colorado), 1971
    • Golden Richards (Brigham Young), 1971
  • Suter also set the ACC single-season for punt returns yards (in just the ninth game of the season), as he now has (574). That total breaks the record of 515 set a year ago by Georgia Tech's Kelly Rhino.

  • Also, Suter now holds the Maryland record for punt return yards in a season. He broke the old record held by Bob Smith, who had 420 punt return yards in 1973.

  • Chris Downs' four rushing touchdowns equaled the second most for a Maryland player in a game. The last player to accomplish the feat was LaMont Jordan, who had vs. Clemson in 1999.

  • Senior Scooter Monroe had three catches for a career-high 167 receiving yards, marking the third consecutive week the Terps had a 100-yard receiver. That comes on the heels of having 57 consecutive games without a 100-yard receiver dating to Jason Hatala's 129 yards on Oct. 3, 1997.

  • With his four touchdowns, tailback Chris Downs now has 13 rushing TD's this season, sixth most in a single-season in Maryland history.

  • The Terps now have 322 points this season, the program's seventh most in a season - and the Terps have played just nine games. The school record is 390 in a season, set last season.

  • Maryland's 24-point second quarter and 21-point third quarter were its fifth and sixth quarter with 20 or more points this season. The Terps had only four quarters of 20 or more points last season.
