Shew Leads Terps to 11th Place Finish in Edwin Watts/Carolinas Classic

PINEHURST, N.C. - Led by freshman Kristen Shew's (Hockessin, Del.) second-day 73 (+1), her collegiate career best, the Terps vaulted four places to an 11th place finish ahead of tournament host College of Charleston in the Edwin Watts/Carolinas Classic. Shew's standout performance on the course was good enough for a tie for 21st place.
In the second round of the tournament, the Terps -- consisting of sophomores Marie Harper (West Point, Va.) and Katie Redeker (Pepper Pike, Ohio), juniors Carter Crowther (Kilmarnock, Va.) and Erin Clasper (North Potomac, Md.) -- shot a combined 312, for a two-day total of 645, leaving the team four strokes behind Georgia State and a top ten finish.
Shew and Harper both bettered their first-round scores by 10 strokes, while Redeker and Crowther improved on their day one scores by seven and one strokes, respectively.
