Women's Golf Team Claims First Top Five Finish of the Season

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Propelled by sophomores Katie Redeker (Pepper Pike, Ohio) and Marie Harper's (West Point, Va.) consistent play, the Terps vaulted over East Tennessee to finish their second tournament of the season in fifth place (308-317--625), 26 strokes behind tournament winner Florida Southern.
Junior Erin Clasper finished tied for 13th by carding a first round 74 and a second round 79 for a two-day total of 153, one stroke away from her first top 10 individual finish since the spring of 2001. Redeker and Harper both carded two-day totals of 157 to finish in a tie for 23rd place. Freshman Kristen Shew (Hockessin, Del.) shot rounds of 78-81 for a total of 159, placing her in a tie for 32nd. Junior Carter Crowther (Kilmarnock, Va.) finished the tournament 78-84--162 and in a tie for 42nd place.
Florida Southern's Jan Peterkova placed first in the tournament with a two-day total of 145 (+1).
The Terps' next action will be at the UNC-Wilmington Lady Seahawk Invitational in Wilmington, N.C., March 24-26.
