HARRISONBURG, Va. - After the first round of play at the Lakeview Golf Course here, Penn State University leads the field with a team total of 305 followed by Maryland and host James Madison, both of which are tied for second with team scores of 316.
Junior Erin Clasper (North Potomac, Md.) is in a three-way tie for fourth place with a four-over total of 37-39--76. Sophomores Marie Harper (West Point, Va.) and Katie Redeker (Pepper Pike, Ohio) joined Clasper in the top 20. Harper is tied for 11th (40-38--78) while Redeker is tied for 17th (42-38--80).
Rounding out Maryland's team are freshman Kristen Shew (Hockessin, Del.), tied for 31st, sophomore Stacey Wolejko (Hatfield, Mass.) tied for 48th (playing as an individual), and junior Carter Crowther (Kilmarnock, Va.), who is in a tie for 57th.
Penn State's Katie Futcher and Yale's Sarah Seo lead the field with two-over-par 74s.
