Terps Finish Season Strong, Prepare for ACC Championships

After a strong season consisting of two top five team finishes, the Maryland women's golf team heads to Clemmons, N.C. to play in its third ACC championship tournament April 19-21 at the Salem Glen Country Club.
The ACC Women's Golf Championship History
Maryland will participate in the 14th annual ACC women's golf championship tournament on April 19-21. The tournament has been held annually since 1992 and was also held in 1984, 1985 and 1986. Duke enters the 2002 tournament as the nine-time defending champion, having won the championship each year since 1995 as well as in through 1984-1986. Wake Forest has won three ACC titles followed by UNC-Chapel Hill with one.
Terps Gain Second Top Five Finish in Lady Duke Invitational
Led by junior captain Erin Clasper (North Potomac, Md.), who finished in a tie for ninth place, the Terps achieved their second top five finish of the season at the James Madison University Lady Duke Invitational. The Terps' tied their highest finish of the 2002 spring season. The highest finish in school history is first at last year's Lady Duke Invitational.
Clasper Enjoys Breakout Season, Tied for First at UNCW
Junior Erin Clasper (North Potomac, Md) finished twice in the top ten this semester, with an under-par performance in the first round of the Lady Seahawk invitational (71-74-73-218). She shared the individual title in the same tournament and finished the season tied for ninth at James Madison (76-78-154). She was the team's top finisher in three of the four spring tournaments.
