Juan Dixon and Courtney Hobbs Named Maryland Student-Athletes of the Week

COLLEGE PARK, Md. Senior family studies major Juan Dixon (Baltimore, Md.) and senior communications major Courtney Hobbs (West Lakes, South Australia) have been named the Maryland student-athletes of the week for their performances in athletic competition the week of March 24 - April 1.
Dixon led the way for the Terrapins, scoring game-high totals of 33 points against Kansas and 18 points against Indiana en route to Maryland's first ever NCAA National Championship. Dixon was named tournament's Most Outstanding Player and voted to the all-tournament team with fellow Terps' Lonny Baxter and Chris Wilcox. Dixon finished out his senior year winning All-America honors for the second year in a row and became the all-time leading scorer in school history with 2,269 career points.
Hobbs scored eight goals and accumulated four assists during three games last week. Against Ivy League opponent Harvard, Hobbs recorded one goal and a game-high three assists as Maryland defeated the Crimson 18-3. Hobbs followed up on her four-point performance by netting seven goals in the ACC/Big Ten challenge against Ohio State and Penn State. Hobbs posted five points (four goals and one assist) against the Nittany Lions in first day of action and notched a hat trick against the Buckeyes to end the tournament with eight points. Hobbs and the Terps return to action against No. 1 Georgetown on Wednesday, April 3 at Ludwig Field at 7 p.m.
