COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland head volleyball coach Janice Kruger announced Wednesday that Stephanie Doiron has signed a national letter-of-intent to play for the Terrapins beginning in 2002. Doiron completes the 2002 recruiting class, joining fellow incoming freshmen Jenny Dunn and Rachel Wagener on the Terps' roster for next season.
"Stephanie will add to our depth of excellent outside attackers," said Kruger. "She plays relentless defense and has great ball control. This seasoned all-around player will be an outstanding addition to our Maryland squad."
Doiron, a 5-11 outside hitter from Windsor, Ontario, served as captain of the Riverside Volleyball Club, leading the squad to two gold medals and one silver. At F.J. Brennan High School, she earned WECSSAA first team All-Star honors in 2000, 2001 and 2002 and was captain her senior year.
Additionally, Doiron played on the 2001 Ontario Women's Provincial team that won the silver medal in the Canada Games. In 2000 she was a member of the Canadian Youth National team.
Maryland opens the 2002 season on Friday, August 30 at the Maryland Invitational when the Terps face George Washington.
