SCARBOROUGH, N.Y. -
University of Maryland's Erin Clasper is slated to tee off on hole No. 10 at 7:35 a.m. Monday as she begins competition in the U.S. Women's Amateur Golf Championship here at Sleepy Hollow Country Club.
Clasper, a senior-to-be on the Terrapin women's golf team, qualified for the event by earning medalist honors at a regional qualifying tournament in Pittsburgh last month. The 150-person field will play 18-hole stroke play rounds on Monday and Tuesday before the field is cut to the low 64 for match play beginning Wednesday.
Sleepy Hollow CC, which is serving as host of the event for the first time, will play 6,190 yards in length. Par is 35-36-71.
Clasper, who fashioned the lowest scoring average on the University of Maryland women's golf team last season, will be paired with Christine Boucher of Canada and Danielle Downey of Spencerport, N.Y. on Monday.
ESPN is slated to televise the match play portion of the tournament on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 3-5 p.m. EDT.
Results will be posted on the U.S. Women's Amateur web site.
