Hartford took advantage of a pair of set pieces to defeat Loyola 3-0 Sunday in the third game of the Maryland/FILA Classic.
After a sluggish first half by both teams, Hartford jumped on top in the 59th minute when junior defender Cindy Walsh headed in a deflection of a Tini Lyng free kick.
Walsh added her second header goal of the day when she converted Lyng's corner kick in the 73rd minute to give Hartford a two-goal edge.
Senior midfielder Katharina Lindner iced the game in the 88th minute as she beat Loyola keeper Erica Niemann for the Hawks third goal of the game.
Niemann had eight saves for the Greyhounds as they fell to 2-2 on the season. With the win, the Hawks improve to 3-2.
Hartford made the most of their eight second-half shots to finish with 19 compared to only four by Loyola.
