CHICAGO - When the Maryland field hockey squad opened its 2001 campaign in Stanford, Calif., Terp fans from across the globe could feel a part of the action through "Postcards from Cali" on umterps.com.
As the 2002 campaign began in Chicago, family, friends and fans of the Terrapins can recount the trip in much the same way with "Postcards from The Windy City."
Maryland played its first game of the 2002 season at Northwestern then took on New Hampshire in Chicago, coming away with 3-1 and 4-1 victories.
The trip might be now over, but the 'Postcards' keep rolling in!
Log on to umterps.com and recapture all the action from the road as told by the Terps!
Sophomore Sara 'Betty' Silvetti (Wapwallopen, Pa.): Hello everyone who is reading our website! Chicago was a blast. We won both our games, which made it even more fun. The highlights of the trip were, Emily's house for dinner (that place was so beautiful!), playing hockey adjacent to Lake Michigan, and of course touring Chicago(otherwise known as eating at the first restaurant we saw after getting off the train and/or standing on the street corner rehearsing our taxi cab calls). Overall, a very fun trip and wish many more Terp Fans could have been there.

Senior Isabelle Palmer (Malvern, England): Hi all (especially those in England, I hope it's not too cold and rainy). Our trip to Chicago provided me with the perfect opportunity to get to know the team better and indulge in a few more eating sessions/tailgates. For me, Chicago came across as being the extremely hot city rather than the windy one. I'm not used to all this sunshine!
The Northwestern field was situated by the Michigan Lake, a stunning setting! Our hockey wasn't always so stunning but considering it was the first time we had all played together we did well. The result against New Hampshire reflected how we developed over the weekend and it was pleasing to come away with two wins. Swimming in Michigan Lake after the Northwestern Hampshire reflected how we developed over the weekend and it was pleasing to come away with two wins. Swimming in Michigan Lake after the Northwestern game was brilliant and a perfect way to wind down after the game. I wonder if we could get a Comcast lake built at Maryland?
Dinner at Em's was superb, thank you to her parents......I think we should go to Chicago more often. Izzy
