COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Terrapin field hockey team plays its regular-season finale on Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, traveling to Harrisonburg, Va., to face James Madison. Maryland, who is ranked third in the nation, looks to keep its four-game win streak alive as it heads into the postseason.
The Terps (16-2, 2-2 ACC) are coming off of a 2-0 victory over No. 19 American. Led by the reigning ACC Player of the Week Jackie Ciconte (Wilmington, Del.), the Terrapins are on a roll having won their last four games. All four of those victories have come against ranked opponents.
Maryland leads the all-time series against the Dukes (5-13) 20-5-3. The Terps easily won last year's meeting, 7-0, in College Park. This season, JMU is having a disappointing year, but does claim a 3-2 overtime triumph over then-No. 16 Richmond.
After Friday's clash, the Terps look forward to the ACC Tournament which is being hosted by the University of Virginia, Nov. 6-9. Maryland will be looking to claim its sixth conference title. Seedings for the tournament will be decided after the Duke-Virginia clash on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m.
