
Terps Face American In NCAA Tournament

The Maryland volleyball team (26-7) will host American University in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at home in Comcast Center Gymnasium Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Maryland, which earned an automatic berth to the tournament by winning the ACC Championship, is ranked No. 25 in the latest USA TODAY/AVCA Coaches Poll and makes its fifth NCAA Tournament appearance in school history.
College Park was selected as a host site for the third time, as Friday's matches feature Maryland vs. American and George Mason vs. fourteenth-seeded Colorado State.
The Patriots and Rams will play Friday at 5:30 p.m., before Maryland and American's match at 7:30 p.m., with the winners facing off Saturday at 7 p.m.
Tournament tickets will be available Monday at 8:30 a.m. at the Comcast Center ticket office (301-314-7070). Tickets are $11 for adults and $8 for students, children and senior citizens for two-day passes.
Single-day tickets will be $7 for adults and $5 for students, children and senior citizens, but will not be available until the day of the match(es).
American is 22-9 on the year and earned an automatic berth the NCAA Tournament by winning the Patriot League championship.
Colorado State, seeded 14th in the tournament, earned an automatic berth after winning the Mountain West Conference. The Rams finished the year at 27-4.
George Mason finished its season at 16-12 and earned an automatic NCAA berth by winning the Colonial Athletic Association championship.
