DeLAND, Fla. - Junior Marie Harper is tied for fifth place after the first round of the Hatter Spring Fling, and the Maryland women's golf team is tied for fourth with a score of 330.

The first Terp to crack the top 10 this season, Harper (West Point, Va.) leads the team with a seven-over-par 79 (38-41), just four strokes from the lead. Tied for 16th place, senior Carter Crowther (Kilmarnock, Va.) is two strokes behind Harper with an 81 (39-42), just two strokes from the top 10.

Senior Erin Clasper (North Potomac, Md.) carded an 84 (45-39) and is tied for 34th place. Junior Stacey Wolejko (Hatfield, Mass.) carded an 86 (43-43), leaving her tied for 45th place, and sophomore Kristen Shew (Hockessin, Del.) is tied for 63rd with an 89 (44-45).

The Terps are tied with Jacksonville and Florida Gulf Coast, two strokes behind third-place Florida Southern and two strokes ahead of seventh-place Florida International, Brown, East Tennessee State and Daytona Beach Community College. Florida Atlantic leads the 15-team field with a score of 320. Host Stetson is in 12th place with a 338.

Play concludes Tuesday at the par-72 Victoria Hills Golf Club.
