DeLAND, Fla. - The Maryland women's golf team improved 15 strokes with a second-round 317 and finished the Hatter Spring Fling in second place with a total score of 645. Led by junior Marie Harper (West Point, Va.), who tied for second, the Terps posted their best finish of the year.

Tied for fifth after the first round, Harper improved four strokes and shot a three-over-par 75. She finished with a two-round total of 154, just two strokes behind winner Ann Fraser of Florida Atlantic. Her second place is the best a Terp has finished individually this season, and Harper's personal best.

Senior Erin Clasper (North Potomac, Md.) also placed in the top 20, tying for 16th. She finished with a total of 162, and her second-round 78 was a six stroke improvement from round one.

Senior Carter Crowther (Kilmarnock, Va.) finished two strokes behind Clasper and tied for 21st place. She finished with a two-round total of 164 after carding an 83 in the second round.

With a second-round 79, sophomore Kristen Shew (Hockessin, Del.) improved ten strokes from round one. She tied for 39th place with a total score of 168. Junior Stacey Wolejko (Hatfield, Mass.) carded an 85 in the second round and tied for 50th with a total score of 171.

Tied for fourth after the first round, Maryland pulled away from Jacksonville and Florida Gulf Coast, defeating both schools by two strokes. Florida Atlantic won the tournament with a total score of 628.

The Terps are next in action April 12-13 for the Lady Duke Invitational in Harrisonburg, Va.
