HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Maryland women's lacrosse team is in third place after the first day of the JMU/Bonnie Hoover Invitational with a collective score of 638. After carding a 324 in round one, the Terps improved 10 strokes and shot a 314 in round two.
Sophomore Kristen Shew (Hockessin, Del.) leads the Terps in fifth place with an 11-over-par 155 (79-76). Senior Erin Clasper. (North Potomac, Md.) is tied for seventh place, just two strokes behind Shew with a 13-over-par 157 (81-76).
Junior Marie Harper (West Point, Va.) also cracked the top 20 with an 18-over-par 162 (83-79) and is tied for 18th place. Senior Carter Crowther (Kilmarnock, Va.) is tied for 30th with a 21-over-par 165 (81-84), and junior Stacey Wolejko (Hatfield, Mass.) carded a 24-over-par 168 (85-83) and is tied for 44th place.
The Terps trail second-place Princeton by three strokes, and they lead fourth-place Ohio by two strokes. Host James Madison leads the 17-team field with a score of 627. Princeton's Avery Kiser holds the individual lead with a two-over-par 146 (75-71).
Play concludes Sunday at the par-72, 6,046-yard Lakeview Golf Course.
