Kruger Embarks On 26th Season
Maryland head coach Janice Kruger is set to begin her 16th year at the helm of the Terrapin volleyball team; her 26th overall. Kruger has amassed an impressive 652-295-6 (.687) mark over the course of her career, which ranks eighth among active NCAA coaches at a four-year college. A three-time ACC Coach of the Year (1990, 1996, 1997), Kruger ranks third in ACC history with 277 victories at Maryland, and her 277-190 record in College Park makes her one of the nation's elite coaches.

Homecoming for Koester
Michigan State assistant coach Duane Koester played for Maryland's volleyball team from 1993-96. In her four-year career as a Terp, Koester amassed 1,173 kills in 375 games and was voted ACC Player of the Year in 1996. She is one of six Maryland players to be named to the ACC's 50th Anniversary Volleyball Team.

Michigan State Spartans - Ranked No. 25 in the USA Today/AVCA Poll, the Spartans return from a Sweet Sixteen appearance and a 21-12 record in 2002. Top returners for Michigan State include senior middle blocker Jenny Rood and sophomore outside hitter Kim Schram. Head coach Chuck Erbe enters his 11th season at Michigan State and has a 213-112 mark in East Lansing. The Terps have faced the Spartans three times, and Michigan State has won all three matches.

Villanova Wildcats - Villanova was 18-16 in 2002, and returns 11 letterwinners from that squad. Top returners include junior middle blocker Kerri Sullivan and senior setter Jennifer Edwards. Head coach Allison Keeley is 25-33 after two years at Villanova. The Terrapins and the Wildcats have met three times, with Maryland owning a 2-1 advantage for the series.

Tennessee Lady Volunteers - Tennessee was 20-11 last season and they return seven letterwinners. Junior outside hitter Michelle Piantadosi, sophomore middle blocker Kristen Andre and sophomore setter Julie Knvtch all return for the Lady Vols. Head coach Rob Patrick has amassed a 112-74 record in six years in Knoxville. Tennessee and Maryland have met twice and have an even 1-1 series record.
