AMHERST, Mass. - Continuing the tradition started at the start of the 2001 season with the Maryland field hockey team traveled to Stanford, Calif., Terp fans can keep up with the team with "Postcards from New England" as they fly to New England to play three games to kick off the start of the 2003 season.
The Terps plays games versus New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Quinnipiac in Amherst, Mass., the site of the 2003 NCAA Tournament semifinal and championship games.

Hey Terp Fans,
Greetings from up North! The Terp field hockey team got their first win today against the University of New Hampshire. The game took place at the University of Massachusetts under partly cloudy skies, cooler than usual temperatures (compared to College Park), and NO HUMIDITY!!!! The new team learned a lot about themselves today and were certainly pleased with the overall outcome of their first match. Overall, the trip has been a normal one for the Terrapin team, full of laughter, jokes, and learning...mostly other languages (Anja and Paula always keeping things interesting, ha ha). Also, I think that everyone enjoyed the sounds and warm greetings of our extremely dedicated fans, not to mention the great tailgate...Thanks so much! To all of you that couldn't make it to this first weekend of hockey, wish you all were here and you are missing some great hockey (especially Jamie, the Harnish's, and the Harris', oh yeah and the Ginder clan as well)! Looking forward to talking to you all soon!!!

Hello Everyone,
Today was the start of a new and exciting season! We flew into Hartford, CT yesterday and drove into Northampton, MA. The hotel is beautiful and located in a cute town. The people of Northampton have been rather welcoming and it's a great place to begin the season with three games (WINS!). Today's win was a successful one with a score of 8-0. Everyone was ready to work hard and contribute to the game for the entire 70 minutes. It was really nice to see the old and new Terp family members at the tailgate after the game, too. The fan support made it feel like we were playing at home on our NEW, hot field! We're looking forward to seeing everyone again tomorrow after a night of dinner, relaxing, and socializing. GO TERPS!
