AMHERST, Mass. - Juniors Kerry Hearsey and Meredith Long contribute their thoughts on the Terp field hockey team's season-opening trip to Massachusetts in the third installment of "Postcards from New England."
After two-straight days of hockey, the players are awarded an afternoon of rest, relaxation and time to be on their own and walk around the town of Northampton where the hotel is located. On Tuesday, Sept. 2, the Terps close out the Labor Day weekend with a game against Quinnipiac.
Hi Everyone,
Well it's been a great weekend so far in UMass. It has been great to watch the team develop on and off the field. On the field we have been working hard on the PRIDE factor and trying hard to reach our potential. This team has a great bond - we are lucky in that we have so many characters and personalities. This adds to the fun we have on the field and the laughs we have off it. It has been great to get to know the new members of the team. They have already made huge impressions (in particular Paula's goal celebrations). I hope that by November we can return to UMass and make even bigger impressions - ones that we will never forget.
Anyway, i will keep this short. Hello to all the people back at home. I can't wait to see you all. Miss you lots.
Take care and i hope to see you all at the new field soon - it really is something very special.
Kerry Hearsey
Hey Maryland Hockey Fans,
This weekend has been a great start for the Terps 2003 season. With two wins behind us we are looking forward to our day of rest before our third and final game in UMass against Quinnipiac. This weekend has been filled with lots of learning, fun and laughter. In particular Spacey's comments (aka Heather), Anja's translations and Brooke's general Australian humor.
This weekend has been a great opportunity to further develop our style of hockey and communicate about game tactics. We are very excited about this season and the games ahead of us. I hope that we can continue to work hard and develop the way that we have done this weekend.
GO TERPS!!
Meredith Long
