COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland Field Hockey's Jackie Ciconte was named ACC Co-Player of the Week after scoring two goals, including the game-winner, in the Terps' 5-4 overtime victory against Duke this past weekend. The win was pivotal as UM moved into second place in the ACC standings.
After her two-goal effort, Ciconte (Wilmington, Del.) leads the team and is 10th in the ACC with 11 goals. She is also second on the squad and ninth in the conference with 25 points. Ciconte earns the weekly accolade for the second time in her career, garnering an ACC Player of the Week nod last year.
Ciconte shared the recognition with Wake Forest's Maeke Boreel.
Entering the weekend, the Terps were tied with Duke for second place in the ACC. With the victory, Maryland is in sole possession of second place with one game remaining on the conference slate.
Maryland is on the road for two games with teams ranked in the top 10. The Terps travel to face No. 8 Old Dominion on Friday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. Maryland then makes its first-ever trip to Ann Arbor, Mich., on Sunday, Oct. 17 for a 1 p.m. match vs. No. 9 Michigan.
