COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland volleyball team handed Duke its second-consecutive loss Saturday in Comcast Center Pavilion, winning 3-1 (30-27, 23-30, 30-27, 30-23). The Terps snapped their two-match losing streak and improved to 10-10, 5-5 in the ACC, while the Blue Devils dropped to 15-7 (6-5 ACC). Sarah Treadwell led all players with 18 kills and 20 digs, while freshman Beth Gillming recorded a career-high 32 digs at the libero position.

Treadwell was crucial down the stretch for the Terrapins, as she had 12 of her 18 kills in the final two games. It was the third time this season Treadwell reached the 20-dig mark, and it was her team-high 13th double-double of the season.

Gillming, meanwhile, was dominant at the libero position, recording a match-high 32 digs. The total is a new career-high for the freshman and a team-high for the season.

Game one was closely contested as the Terps barely out-hit the Devils, .196-.148. Rachel Wagener and Jennifer Dewalt led the way for Maryland with four kills each and the Terps gained the 30-27 victory.

Wagener finished the match with 14 kills, a team-high .423 attack percentage and three blocks. Dewalt, meanwhile, posted her second-consecutive double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs.

In game two, Duke was led by Pixie Levanas with six kills and Tealle Hunkus with five kills. The Blue Devils evened the match with a 30-23 victory.

Treadwell took over in games three and four, however, as the senior had four kills with no errors on eight swings (.500) in game three and eight kills with one error on 12 attempts (.583) in game four. Jade Brown also came up big for the Terps in the final two games, as the freshman finished with 17 kills and two blocks, and Maryland clinched the match with 30-27 and 30-23 victories.

Stephanie Smith was also in double-digits in kills, recording 11 to go with two blocks. It was the second match in a row that five Terrapins had at least 10 kills.

Terp setter Aimee Huddleston handed out 56 assists and had 11 digs, three kills and two blocks.

The Terps are back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 26, when they host Virginia in Comcast Center Pavilion. The match will begin at 7 p.m., admission is free.
