Charlotte, N.C. - Good morning Terp fans! It's Danielle Malagari here coming to you from the tiny airport in Greenville, S.C. It's a beautiful morning here and it looks like it's going to be a great day. It's always more fun to travel home following a win. I hate walking through airports and having people asking us if we won or lost when we lose. But it's not quite so bad when you win.
If you didn't know by now, couldn't get to your computer last night to follow the game live, I'll update you on the the good news ... WE WON! It was a tough battle, but we pulled if off. I don't know how many times I looked up at the clock last night counting down the minutes until we were victorious. Clemson had a couple of great opportunities in the closing minutes, a couple of unlucky bounces and deflections - thank goodness - but we were able to hold on for a 1-0 win.
After the game we went to a little restaurant just kiddie corner to the historic Riggs Field. We stuffed our faces with a couple slices of pizza and then we got a surprise visit to ... yes, the one and only Dairy Queen! I got a Heath Bar Blizzard, while many of the other girls got delicious bowls of Brownie Earthquakes.
Two years ago when we were down here playing Clemson, we were so excited about our first win at Riggs Field we were told our reward was a trip to Dairy Queen. We got lost on the way there, but we eventually found it. Melissa Anderson had just suffered what seems like her 1,826th concussion and did not get to enjoy the experience, but believe me she indulged herself at the DQ this time.
It was a happy ride back to the hotel last night and I hope it is an even better airplane ride home. I will be catching up on some of my sleep but also studying for my athletic training exam as well.
I hope everyone has a great day. I'll be back to update you all before or after our games this week. Maybe after having two home games cancelled due to the weather we will finally be able to play on our home field again.
This is Danielle Malagari signing off. GO TERPS!
