SANDESTIN, Fla. - Jessica Reno shot a final-round 77 Sunday to finish as the top University of Maryland player at the ACC/SEC Challenge women's golf tournament hosted by Florida State University.
The Terrapin sophomore finished in a tie for 45th overall in the event, which drew the top women's teams from both conferences. As a team, Maryland rallied from a difficult opening round for identical scores of 308 on Saturday and Sunday, placing 15th with a 941 team total.
Also for Maryland, Kate Stepanek fired a 73 on Sunday, marking the best round of the tournament by a Terrapin player. She finished in a tie for 51st at 232 for the tournament, rallying with rounds of 75 and 73 on the final two days.
Kelly Calkin tied for 67th at 237 after finishing with a 79 Sunday, with Kelly MacWhinnie at 245 after her final-round 79 and Katie Trotter scored 247 over the 54-hole event for 77th place.
Duke won the team event, scoring 278 on the final day to finish at 856. The Blue Devils were led by a tournament-record 62 from Elizabeth Janangelo and defeated Auburn by one stroke.
Despite her strong final round, Janangelo actually finished second individually, as Auburn's Diana Ramage rode a 64 on Tuesday to a 7-under-par 206 total, winning by four shots over Janangelo and Beth Irwin of Mississippi State.
Maryland finishes its fall season in two weeks at the Lady Jaguar Invitational hosted by Augusta State.
