  • Maryland moved to 3-2 (1-1 ACC) on the season with tonight's 20-7 loss to Georgia Tech (3-2, 2-2 ACC) at Byrd Stadium. It marked the first time Georgia Tech earned a victory in College Park, Md., since 2000, when the Yellow Jackets posted a 35-22 win in the last game of the regular season.

  • Tonight's loss marks only the second home loss for Maryland head coach Ralph Friedgen since returning to take the helm of his alma mater's football program in 2001. Friedgen's record at Byrd Stadium now stands at 21-2. The only other Terp home loss of the Friedgen Era was a 52-31 defeat at the hands of Florida State on Sept. 14, 2002.

  • Georgia Tech extended its lead in the all-time series to 12-5, and evened its record at Byrd Stadium at 4-4.

  • The Terps trailed 10-0 at halftime against the Yellow Jackets. Under Friedgen, the Terps are 4-9 when trailing at the half.

  • Georgia Tech had zero turnovers against the Terps on Saturday. The Jackets had averaged 3.0 giveaways per game headed into their matchup with the Terps. The Terps likewise had no turnovers for the first time in 2004.

  • With his 12-yard return on Georgia Tech's first punt of the day, senior Steve Suter became the ACC's all-time leader in punt return yards. Suter, who finished the day with 24 yards and 1,212 for his career, surpasses the mark of NC State's Ledell George (1,191 from 1990-93).

  • Suter also put forth a tremendous effort with a 52-yard kickoff return in the second quarter, marking his longest of the 2004 season.

  • Senior kicker Nick Novak chipped in one extra point on the day, moving into Top 10 of the NCAA's all-time point scoring leaders for kickers. With 368 career points, Novak is now tied for 10th with former Florida kicker Jeff Chandler, who totaled 368 from 1997-2001.

  • In going scoreless in the first half today, Maryland was held without a point in a half for the first time since last year's Georgia Tech game, an eventual 7-3 loss.

  • Heading into today's game, Adam Podlesh had only punted nine times. Today, he punted nine times for 448 yards, a 49.8 yard average. He posted a season-long 59-yard punt and dropped one inside Georgia Tech's 10-yard line.

  • Junior Josh Allen amassed 54 yards on seven carries in the game, moving into 12th on the Terps' all-time rushing list. He now has 1,675 career rushing yards.

  • Today's attendance of 52,733 marked the fifth-largest crowd in Byrd Stadium history and the largest of this season. Through three home games, the Terps are averaging 51,952 fans per game this season.

  • Next week's opponent, NC State, takes on North Carolina later Saturday night.
