Clemson Tops Maryland Volleyball, 3-0

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland volleyball team was swept by Clemson Saturday night in Comcast Center Pavilion, 3-0 (30-24, 30-25, 30-24). It was the final regular season conference match for both teams as the Terrapins fell to 12-14 overall (7-9 ACC), while the Tigers improved to 18-13 (7-9 ACC). The Terps will await Monday's announcement of their seeding at the ACC Tournament, being held at the University of Virginia on Nov. 18-21.

Sarah Treadwell led Maryland with 12 kills and a match-high 18 digs. Treadwell, along with fellow seniors Jennifer Dewalt, Maria DiLivio, Aimee Huddleston and Kathy Shahrokh, were playing their final conference home game on Senior Night vs. the Tigers and were honored before the match with their families.

Huddleston had 33 assists, four blocks and two kills while Dewalt finished with five kills, five digs and four blocks. DiLivio posted four kills, an ace and seven digs.

The Terrapins could not stop the attack of Clemson's Leslie Finn and Lori Ashton, as both players had over 20 kills for the Tigers. Finn finished with 21 kills, 13 digs and two blocks, while Ashton tallied a match-high 22 kills, hit a match-high .645 and posted six digs.

Maryland out-blocked Clemson, 11-6, but could not overcome being out-hit in all three games.

Freshman Jade Brown finished with eight kills, four digs and two blocks for a solid outing, while Stephanie Smith recorded a match-high seven blocks. Junior Rachel Wagener tallied five kills and three blocks.

The Terps will find out their seeding at the 2004 ACC Tournament on Monday, Nov. 15. The tournament, held at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., begins Nov. 19. Check back to umterps.com for match times.
