
Four Terrapin Field Hockey Players Selected All-American

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Four Maryland field hockey players have earned All-America honors, which was announced today by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Sophomore Paula Infante and junior Lauren Powley earn first team honors for the second-straight year. Senior co-captains Kristin Harris and Sara Silvetti garnered All-America recognition for the first time in their careers with Silvetti earning a spot on the second team while Harris was selected to the third team.
Infante (Santiago, Chile), who has earned a number of of postseason accolades this season, is the ninth player in school history, including teammate Powley (Mountaintop, Pa.), to be selected to the first team. Infante has garnered a number of accolades since arriving in College Park last year. She is a two-time All-ACC honoree, a two-time All-ACC Tournament pick and a two-time All-NCAA Tournament selection. She has led the team in goals in each of her two seasons. In the first round of the 2004 NCAA Tournament, she broke the single-game tournament record scoring five goals in the 5-2 win over No. 14 Delaware.
Powley earns a spot on the All-American team for the third-consecutive year, only the ninth player in school history to achieve such a feat. In her freshman campaign, she was named to the third team. A midfielder, she is also a two-time All-ACC pick and is a member of the Under-21 U.S. National team.
Silvetti (Wapwallopen, Pa.) and Harris (Lititz, Pa.) have been team captains the last two seasons. During their tenures, they have helped the Terps to three NCAA Tournament semifinal appearances, reaching the title game as freshmen. A staple on the Maryland defense over the last four years, both were selected to play in the North/South Senior All-Star team, leading the South squad to a 2-1 win on Nov. 20. Each also earned their first-career conference honors this season. Silvetti was an All-ACC honoree while Harris was named All-ACC Tournament.
