Stepanek Leads Terps to Lady Jaguar Title

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Sophomore Kate Stepanek won the individual title with an 8-over-par total of 152, leading the University of Maryland to the team victory Tuesday at the Lady Jaguar Invitational women's golf tournament hosted by Augusta State University.
Stepanek fired identical rounds of 76 to score a one-shot victory over Lauren Dodge of Birmingham Southern. Stepanek was in a tie for fourth after Monday's opening round of the 36-hole event, starting the day one shot out of the lead.
As a team, Maryland shot 314 on Tuesday, the best 18-hole round posted by any team in the tournament. The Terrapins started the day one shot behind host Augusta State, which finished in a second-place tie with Longwood in the team standings, eight shots behind the Terps' winning score of 633.
Also for Maryland on Tuesday, sophomore Jessica Reno earned a top-10 finish, tying for seventh at 156. She also had a 76 in the final round. Freshman Kelly Calkin finished at 162 in a tie for 18th, sophomore Kelly MacWhinnie tied for 40th at 167 after closing with an 80 and freshman Katie Trotter tied for 54th at 170.
The Lady Jaguar Invitational closed the fall season for the Terrapins.
