COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland head field hockey coach Missy Meharg announced today the signing of Kimberly Ziegler to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Terrapins beginning in 2004. Ziegler, a forward from Fallston, Md., earned first team all-state, all-metro and all-county honors during her career at Fallston High School.
Zeigler helped the Cougars to the 2003 state championship title, while maintaining a 4.0 grade point average at Fallston High School. She contributed 10 goals and 10 assists during her senior campaign, en route to a number of postseason honors.
"We are so excited about Kim, who comes from a great program," Meharg says. "She has an incredible level of commitment and we are proud to have someone of her intellect and ability. Kim will grow into a player who excels at the next level."
The Terrapins went 20-4 in 2003, reaching the NCAA Tournament for the 16 times in school history, advancing to the national semifinals for the ninth time.
