Track Teams Place Well at ECAC/IC4A Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The University of Maryland track teams placed well at the ECAC/IC4A Championships in Boston, Mass., this weekend. The Terrapin women scored 23 points to finish 12th while the men's team earned 16 points and finished 17th. Teyarnte' Carter led the women's team with an individual victory in the 60-meter dash.
The men's champion of the weekend was Manhattan College with 60 points, while Pittsburgh took the women's crown with 62 points.
Leading the Terps was Teyarnte' Carter, who won the 60-meter dash with a finals time of 7.52. Her preliminary time in the event, 7.50, was the fastest of the day. Carter also competed well in the 200 meters, placing sixth and scoring points with at time of 24.56. Teammates Toni Jefferson and Heather Houston had times of 24.45 and 25.34, respectively, in the 200 meters.
Danielle Siebert earned points for the Terrapin women in the mile run, finishing eighth with a time of 4:59.73. Siebert also joined with teammates Laurel Jefferson, Kristina Keegan and Allison Carney to score points in the distance medley relay (12:00.47).
Harold Manning had a standout weekend for the Terrapin men's team, finishing second in the 200 meters (21.06). That time, an automatic NCAA qualifying mark, also set a new school record in the event. Manning, who stands at No. 18 on the national list for the 200 meters, will await the official NCAA declarations Monday at 7:30.
Rob Frelow came in ninth in the 400 meters (47.86), while the distance medley relay team of Florent Groberg, Frelow, Matt Sanders and Peter Hess scored points and finished fifth (9:52.72).
