
Terrapin Baseball Drops To No. 10 Yellow Jackets, 15-1

ABERDEEN, Md. - The University of Maryland baseball team dropped to No. 10 Georgia Tech on Saturday at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Md., by a score of 15-1. The Yellow Jackets offense put together 15 runs on 19 hits against the Terps.
Georgia Tech (37-17, 17-5 ACC) took control of the game early and the Terrapins (21-31, 4-19 ACC) were not able to recover. Starting on the mound for the Yellow Jackets, Andrew Kown held the Terps scoreless through six innings. Kown struck out five batters without issuing any walks and surrendering just four hits.
After falling behind 9-0, the Terrapins scored one run in the seventh inning. Sophomore Brian Jarosinski singled through the left side and came around to score later in the inning when freshman Dan Melvin doubled to right center.
Junior Will Frazier and Melvin were the only Terrapins with multiple hits in the game. Junior Chris Clem started the games for the Terps, while freshman Casey Baron and junior Justin Hulse each made relief appearances.
The Terps will meet up with Georgia Tech tomorrow at 1 p.m. for the series finale at Ripken Stadium.
