Field Hockey Reports for Preseason

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Terrapin field hockey squad reported for the 2004 campaign last night, kicking off the preseason with its annual midnight fitness run. The Terps took off running around the field hockey turf at the stroke of midnght. Maryland started its official practices on Thursday, Aug. 12, and begins its journey toward capturing the program's fourth national championship. The Terps are coming off of a 20-4 season and an appearance in the 2004 final four. Returning nine starters from last year and 15 starters, Maryland opens the season with the Red/White Game on Friday, Aug. 20, followed by a scrimmage with the University of Calgary on Sunday, Aug. 22. The Terps and head coach Missy Meharg, who is entering her 17th season at the helm, open the regular season against Boston College on Saturday, Aug. 28 at the campus of Harvard University.
