Aug. 30, 2004

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland field hockey blanked Harvard, 2-0, in a scrimmage at Jordan Field on Monday afternoon. Juniors Jackie Ciconte and Tiffany Marsh tallied goals in the game to lead the Terps to the win.

Maryland scored both its goals in the first half. The game was played in two 25-minute halves instead of the usual 35-minute periods. Marsh (Marathon, N.Y.) gave the Terps a 1-0 lead when she deflected a pass from senior Kristin Harris' (Lititz, Pa.) into the net with 15:40 remaining in the first period.

Classmate and All-American Ciconte (Wilmington, Del.) sealed the win, scoring the insurance goal with 7:30 remaining on the clock in the same period. Fellow All-American Lauren Powley (Mountaintop, Pa.) had the assist.

Maryland had 11 shots in the contest, seven in the first half, while the Crimson's only attempt came in the first period.

Terp goalkeepers Christina Restivo (Parkton, Md.) and Kathryn Masson (Richmond, British Columbia) split time in the net. Harvard netminder Aliaa Remtilla made three saves.
