What's Up With Women's Soccer
by: Danielle Malagari
When opening weekend comes along at the end of every August, there are many
emotions flying around. We are all usually nervous, excited, and anxious
for the season ahead. Now that the weekend is over all I have to say is
...PHEW!
Both of our games this weekend went into overtime, one ending in the outcome
we were hoping for and the other... an outcome that will neither hurt us not
help us come NCAA time. The 1-0 win over Towson was a nail biter. My 24
year old sister even came up to me after the game and said she was on the
verge of a heartattack, so you can only imagine the intensity of the game.
There were great opportunities for both teams, we just struck first 99
minutes and 30 seconds into the game.
The William & Mary game was nothing less than hectic. It was a well played
game and the team seemed very connected but the ball just seemed to not want
to touch the back of the net more than once for both teams. But the 1-1 tie
was a little of a disappointment, given all of the opportunities we had, but
W&M are always a great opponent. They fought just as hard as we did.
It is currently 11:11 and I am still on the Terp bus heading back to CP.
It's been a long weekend and my bed is calling' my name. So goodnight my
fellow Terp fans and have a great week! We will see you on Friday night!
P.S. - this is a shout out I was supposed to give out last season, but
forgot... Paulie Lovecchio... YOU'RE THE BEST! (Sandy.. YOU RULE TOO!)
