College Park, Md. - The Maryland women's soccer team plays its second straight ACC road match when it travels to Chapel Hill, N.C., to play No. 2 North Carolina on Friday, September 24 at Fetzer Field. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
All-time Maryland is winless in 21 matches with the Tar Heels, but in 2002, under head coach Shannon Higgins-Cirovski, the Terrapins posted their first-ever positive result against the storied North Carolina program with a 1-1 tie on Nov. 1. That tie with the Terps was the last time North Carolina did not win a regular season ACC match.
Maryland will be looking for some offense after dropping a 2-1 decision at Miami last Sunday, but so far this season North Carolina, 7-0-1, has outscored its opponents 21-3 and shutout its opponents in six of eight games.
Offensively the Terps are lead by juniors Nikki Resnick will have to return to the form she showed against No. 3 UCLA on Sept. 19 when she made eight saves.
The match can be heard live on the radio on WMUC 88.1 FM or fans can follow along on the Internet via www.umterps.com.
