COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Madeleine Lovette recently signed a national letter-of-intent to attend the University of Maryland and play on the Terrapins' women's golf team, head coach Jason Rodenhaver said.
Lovette was a two-time Pennsylvania state champion while competing for Westmont Hilltop High School in Johnstown, Pa. She also was a three-time qualifier for the USGA Girls Junior Championships.
In addition to her prowess as a golfer, Lovette also competes in basketball and track and field in high school.
"Madeleine is a tremendously well-rounded student-athlete," said Rodenhaver. "I am thrilled to have such a high-calibre student-athlete join our program. I expect her to contribute to our success immediately."
Maryland, now in its sixth year of women's golf, opens its spring 2005 season next month.
