The ACC Champion Terrapin field hockey team continues its quest for its fourth NCAA title when it takes on No. 4 Old Dominion on Friday, Nov. 18 at 5 p.m. in Louisville, Ky. The Terps, who are the top-ranked team in the nation and the top team in the tournament, are making their third-straight NCAA semifinal appearance.
Maryland reached the semifinals with wins over No. 10 Richmond (4-0) and No. 6 American (3-0) last weekend in the first and second rounds of the tournament, also capturing its 20th and 21st wins of the season. It is the fifth time in program history Maryland has posted a 20-win season and the third time in five years.
The Terps face ODU for the third time this season. The teams, who have played a regular-season home-and-home series the last seven years, each picked up a win over the other this season. The Lady Monarchs, who are 19-5 on the season and captured the Colonial Athletic Association title, topped Ohio State (5-4) and Michigan (3-2) to advance to the semis.
Rounding out the four teams in Louisville, Ky., are the ACC's Duke and Wake Forest. They battle each other on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
The winners of both games move on to the title match on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 12:30 p.m. The game will be televised live on CSTV.
