COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA) and the Associated Press announced its picks for the 2005 All-ACC teams and four Terrapins were on the list. Tight end Vernon Davis was joined by linebacker D'Qwell Jackson on the league's first team, while tailback Lance Ball and punter Adam Podlesh were named second team picks.
In addition, senior safety Milton Harris earned honorable mention status.
Davis (132) and Jackson (141) were near unaminous first team selections. A total of 144 points meant unaminous status.
Jackson, a Bednaris Award finalist, is the league's leading tackler for the second year in a row and is second in the NCAA with almost 14 tackles per game in being named a first team pick for the second consecutive season. Davis' selection was his first to the first or second team, yet well deserving considering he finished the regular season leading the ACC in receiving yards, an amazing feat for a tight end. The junior is a finalist for the John Mackey Award.
Podlesh finishes on the second team for the third straight year after ranking second in the league in punting average while Lance Ball came on strong in the season's second half, posting four 100-yard efforts in the season's final seven games en route to second team honors in just just sophomore season.
