The Maryland women's water polo team travels to Erie, Pa., this weekend for four non-conference matches at the Penn State-Behrend Invitational. The Terps will face Notre Dame, Utica and Ottawa on Saturday before taking on Siena on Sunday.
The Terps (4-10, 1-3 Southern Division) are coming off a heartbreaking overtime loss to division rival George Washington March 8. Maryland was leading, 5-3, at halftime, but lost the game, 8-6.
Senior Elyse Corwin (Orinda, Calif.) leads the team in scoring and is among the best in the nation with 24 goals. She has scored in 11 of Maryland's 14 games, including the first nine of the season.
Her sister, junior goalie Marissa Corwin (Orinda, Calif.), is among the nation's leaders in saves with 114.
The Terps are tied with Washington & Jefferson College for 10th in the Collegiate Water Polo Association poll, marking Maryland's first ranking in program history. Indiana sits atop the poll. Princeton, Bucknell and George Washington, Maryland's Southern Division foes, are ranked fourth, fifth and eighth, respectively.
The Terps have a busy schedule on Saturday, facing Notre Dame at 9:10 a.m. before taking on Utica at 12:40 p.m. and Ottawa at 5:20 p.m. Maryland's match against Siena is set for 12:40 p.m. Sunday.
