College Park, Md. - The Maryland women's tennis won its fourth consecutive match on Sunday afternoon at the Tennis Center at College Park, defeating Wake Forest, 4-3. With the win the Terps finished the regular season 11-10 and moved to 5-5 in ACC play.
The Terps got off to a slow start, dropping the doubles point to the Demon Deacons. Wake Forest took two of the doubles matches to win the point. In singles play, Ramona But topped Karin Coetzee, 2-6, 6-0, 6-2. Marianne Baker edged Ashlee Davis in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Jennifer Dent fell to Katie Martzolf, 6-3, 6-2. Alex Hirsch defeated Neda Mihneva, 6-2, 6-0. Veronika Subertova cruised past Blakely Offutt, 6-1, 6-1. In the no. 6 singles position, Julia Graca clinched the match for the Terps by defeating Jenna Loeb, 6-1, 6-3.
The Terps will look to continue its strong play on Thursday afternoon, when they travel to Cary, N.C., to participate in the ACC tournament.
