Sophomore Jessica Reno led University of Maryland finishers by tying for 25th place individually after Sunday's final round of the Atlantic Coast Conference women's golf championship played at the Carmel Country Club.
Reno finished with a 54-hole total of 243, leading the young Terrapins in the event. Maryland had three sophomores and two freshmen in the lineup for the league tournament. As a team, Maryland placed eighth with a team total of 989 after shooting a 330 on Sunday.
Also for Maryland, Kate Stepanek tied for 28th at 245 after shooting an 81 in the final round, the best score of the day by the Terrapins. Freshman Kelly Calkin closed with an 83 on Sunday to tie for 33rd place at 250. Kelly MacWhinnie placed 36th at 253 after also shooting an 83 on Sunday, while Katie Trotter's final-round 83 put her in 39th place at 262.
Duke finished at 886 to win the ACC team championship. The Blue Devils have won the ACC title in every year since 1996. They shot 292 on Sunday and their three rounds of 303, 291 and 292 were the lowest team rounds posted by any team in the entire tournament.
Duke had the top four individual finishers in the event, with Brittany Lang shooting a 2-under-par 70 to claim medalist honors. She finished at 3-over 219, one shot better than teammate Anna Grzebien, who shot a 72 on Sunday.
The ACC Championship was the final regular-season event on Maryland's schedule for 2004-05.
