
Gymnastics, Men's Tennis Earn President's Cup

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The women's gymnastics and men's tennis teams earned the President's Cup Team GPA awards Sunday, highlighting the honors given Terrapin student-athletes at the ninth annual President's Cup Brunch.
The women's gymnastics team won its fifth team award by compiling a 3.23 overall cumulative grade-point average for the past two semesters. The men's tennis team earned a 3.10 GPA in that same period, winning the GPA team honor for the sixth time.
Team awards were given for the CHAMPS/Lifeskills Cup, given to teams that collectively adopted the five commitments as part of the popular NCAA program. The gymnastics and football teams earned the honor for displaying academic excellence, athletic excellence, commitment to career development, commitment to personal development and commitment to service.
Teams honored for winning ACC Sportsmanship Awards were women's cross country, men's soccer and wrestling.
Student-athletes also earned a number of individual honors symbolizing academic and community service excellence.
The event was held at the campus' Inn and Conference Center and was co-sponsored by the M Club and the Terrapin Club.
