Allie Houseal and Allison Kuzniar were named to both the Collegiate Water Polo Association and the American Water Polo Coaches Association All-Academic Team, the organizations recently announced. The Terrapin water polo team was also honored for its overall cumulative grade point average of 3.14.
Houseal, a freshman driver for the Terps, scored 15 goals and eight assists and was third on the team with 25 steals in 2004-05. Out of the pool, she posted a 3.78 grade point average while majoring in elementary education.
Both the Collegiate Water Polo Association and the American Water Polo Coaches Association have three levels of achievement: Outstanding (3.71-4.0), Superior (3.41-3.70) and Excellent (3.20-3.40). Houseal earned Outstanding recognition on both teams.
Kuzniar, a junior center back, scored 17 goals and had a team-high 16 assists this season for Maryland. Academically, Kuzniar excelled in the Robert H. Smith School of Business, earning a 3.24 GPA and majoring in general business.
Kuzniar earned Excellent recognition on both teams.
As a team, the Terrapin water polo team was also honored for its 3.14 overall grade point average. Teams honored represent those institutions whose combined GPA is over 2.75.
