
USA Field Hockey And Three Terps Participate In Champions Challege

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Current Terrapin Lauren Powley and former Terps Sara Silvetti and Dina Rizzo are three of 18 players on the United States National Field Hockey team who will be participating in the Rabobank Champions Challenge in Virginia Beach, Va., July 8-16.
Held every two years, the Champions Challenge is one of the International Hockey Federation's (FIH) premier events and includes the teams ranked 7th-12th in the world standings. The USA women are currently tied for 11th in the world rankings and will be joined by New Zealand (6th), England (8th), Spain (9th)Japan (10th) and South Africa (tied 11th). The USA opens play on July 8th against South Africa.
Rizzo, a 2002 Maryland graduate, participated in the 2003 Champions Challenge in Italy. Powley, who will be a senior in the fall, and Silvetti, who recently graduated in May, are making their first appearances in the tournament.
