
Greenwell Named Associate A.D. for Facilities & Operations

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - James Greenwell has been named the new associate athletics director for operations and facilities at the University of Maryland, it was announced by associate A.D. Shawn Flynn.
Greenwell, who has more than 14 years of experience in managing athletics facilities on the Division I level, comes to Maryland from the University of Central Florida. For the Terrapins, he will be responsible for overseeing Maryland's multiple athletics complexes, including Byrd Stadium, Comcast Center and all other athletics venues, including turf and fields maintenance.
While at UCF, he was charged with overseeing all athletic facilities and events. During his tenure there, Greenwell was instrumental in the coordination and completion of several construction projects, including the UCF Softball Stadium, and the planning of a 10,000 seat Convocation Center.
"James brings experience and enthusiasm to the facilities and operations staff at Maryland," said Flynn. "We're very proud of the strides we've made in improving the quality of our facilities, and the operational efficiency with which they run. James will be an important team member of our staff in intercollegiate athletics."
Prior to his time at UCF, Greenwell served as the coordinator of operations for the Bartow Arena at the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB).
A member of the 24th Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga., from 1986 to 1990, Greenwell received his bachelor of arts degree in political science from UAB in 1996.
