
Terps in Ninth after Two Rounds of Cougar Classic

HANAHAN, S.C. - Kelly Calkin fired an even-par 72 to tie for 28th place individually and lead the University of Maryland to ninth place after Sunday's two rounds of the 2005 Cougar Classic women's golf tournament being hosted by the College of Charleston.
Calkin had a 36-hole total of 150 to lead the Terrapins, who had a team total of 604 after the opening two rounds. The schedule of the tournament was changed due to the proximity of Hurricane Ophelia off the Carolina coast. The final 18 holes of the event will be played on Monday.
All five Terrapin players were within five strokes of each other after the first two rounds, with Jessica Reno in a tie for 32nd at 151, Kate Stepanek tied for 46th at 153, Katie Trotter tied for 50th at 154 and Kelly MacWhinnie tied for 56th at 155.
Stepanek led the Terrapins with an even-par 72 in the opening round, which the Terps finished at 299, with all five players shooting 78 or better.
Tennessee led the team standings after two of the three rounds with a 581 total. Georgia was in second, two strokes behind.
Individually, Nicole Smith led the Lady Vols with a 2-under total of 142, with three players one shot back, including Angie Hill of Charleston, Whitney Wade of Georgia and Leah Wigger of Virginia.
